Migraines got you down? A stylish choice might help to reduce the pain. A new study shows that wearing tinted glasses may actually lower your susceptibility to migraines. Seeing the world through rose-colored glasses might not just mean having an optimistic outlook, but a pain-free head as well!
Previous research has established that viewing busy patterns like stripes have been found to trigger migraines in some people. However, wearing tinted or color-filtered glasses helps to block out some of the visual stress that these patterns create. Therefore, researchers decided to test whether wearing colored glasses could affect a person’s headache risk.
The study found that wearing tinted lenses minimized visual discomfort better than normal glasses. Brain scans of the test subjects showed that those who wore the colored glasses had a higher activation in the visual cortex part of the brain, which helped to counteract the disturbing visual patterns they encountered. The therapeutic assistance these tinted glasses provide would likely help to stop migraines that would otherwise arise.
Looks like buying colored eyewear might become not just a fashionable trend, but a healthful trend, too!
